Manchester United agree deal for Brighton midfielder Baleba

Manchester United has reached an agreement to sign Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Carlos Baleba, according to a source close to the Old Trafford club. The transfer is expected to be finalized after Baleba undergoes a medical examination.

Reports indicate that the deal involves an initial payment of £65 million, with potential add-ons reaching up to £5 million. Brighton has also secured a sell-on clause as part of the agreement. Baleba, a 22-year-old international from Cameroon, is expected to become Manchester United's third midfield acquisition of the current transfer window, following the signings of Youri Tielemans and Andrey Santos.

Despite suffering an ankle ligament injury during pre-season, reports suggest that Baleba's condition is not anticipated to cause a prolonged absence. He has made 112 appearances for Brighton since joining from Lille in 2023 and was a long-term target for Manchester United. Last season, he featured in 31 league matches, with a portion of his campaign missed due to his participation in the Africa Cup of Nations with Cameroon.
