Mango founder's son breaks silence on murder accusation, steps down from company

Jonathan Andic, the son of Mango fashion empire founder Isak Andic, has publicly addressed accusations that he murdered his father. In an open letter released Tuesday, the 45-year-old businessman announced his temporary departure from his role as vice-chairman of the company.

Andic stated he is stepping down to dedicate his full attention and energy to his legal defense. "I face this process with serenity and fortitude, and I need to concentrate all my energy on proving my innocence," he wrote. This decision comes after he posted a one-million-euro bail to avoid pre-trial detention following his arrest as a suspect in his father's death.

Additional precautionary measures imposed by the judge include the surrender of his passport, a travel ban, and weekly court appearances as the homicide investigation continues. Andic expressed deep sadness over the loss of his father, which occurred approximately 17 months prior, and described the accusation as "the most serious, unjust, and unfounded" imaginable.

He asserted his profound love for his family, especially his father, recalling many happy and affectionate moments they shared. Andic acknowledged that, like many families, they experienced difficult times but overcame them with effort and generosity. Isak Andic, who built Mango into a global fashion brand, died at age 71 after falling while hiking near Barcelona in December 2024. Jonathan was the only one of his three sons accompanying him on that outing. Investigators have reportedly focused on a strained relationship between father and son.
