Marija Mirković Announces New Album 'El Greko,' Inspired by Greek Music

Marija Mirković, a familiar face to regional audiences as a former member and co-founder of the popular band The Frajle, is successfully navigating her solo career. In a recent interview with Večernji list, Mirković exclusively announced her third solo album, titled "El Greko," which is slated for release in early October. To meet high audience expectations, she will be dedicating most of her summer to studio work.

Mirković, who embarked on her solo journey in 2021 after twelve years with The Frajle, has established herself as an author and performer. Her musical identity is shaped by her diverse background, having been born in Priština, growing up between Bar in Montenegro, and Novi Sad. This blend of southern temperament and the plains' tranquility is reflected in her music, which incorporates elements of both mandolin and accordion.

Despite holding a law degree, Mirković's passion for music led her to the stage. Her solo career began with two albums released simultaneously: her original work "Ja sam Marija" and a cover album titled "I to sam ja." These releases marked the first phase of her independent career. When not creating music, she enjoys the Adriatic Sea, a region and its music she has loved since childhood, often spending time with family and friends, for whom she enjoys cooking.

Regarding her upcoming album, "El Greko," Mirković explained that the concept is inspired by Greek music, pushing her Mediterranean sound slightly eastward. She has completed the songs and is currently focused on the production and sound, working with collaborators to bring her vision to life. This meticulous approach to sound and production is a key element for the album, which she anticipates will resonate with listeners.
