Market employee stabs customer and his brother over product exchange dispute

A disagreement over a product exchange at a market in Bahçeşehir, Istanbul, turned violent on May 22, resulting in two brothers being stabbed. The altercation began when a customer, identified as Ş.O., returned to the market to exchange a product she claimed was given to her incorrectly. A dispute erupted between Ş.O. and a market employee.

The situation escalated the following day when the customer's husband, Halit Orbayi, went to the market to complain about the employee's reaction to his wife and child. During this confrontation, the market employee allegedly attacked Halit Orbayi with a knife, stabbing him in the chest. His brother, Said Orbayi, who was present and attempted to intervene, was also injured, sustaining wounds to his arm and leg.

Halit Orbayi was taken to Başakşehir Çam and Sakura City Hospital in serious condition. Security camera footage captured the market employee running towards Halit Orbayi with a knife, followed by the stabbing. Police apprehended the market employee, but he was subsequently released under judicial control after appearing in court. The family expressed their distress, with Mustafa Orbayi, another brother, detailing the initial incident involving his sister-in-law and the children's fear.
