Marysabel Senyú defends high jump title, wins gold at Santo Domingo 2026 Games

Marysabel Senyú has once again claimed the top spot on the podium at the Central American and Caribbean Games, securing the gold medal in the high jump at Santo Domingo 2026. The Dominican athlete achieved a winning mark of 1.93 meters, successfully clearing the height on her first attempt to take control of the competition and clinch the regional title.

This gold medal represents another significant achievement for Senyú, who also won the high jump event at the San Salvador 2023 Games with a jump of 1.86 meters. She now revalidates her status as the regional champion. The silver medal went to Cuba's Dacsy Brison with a jump of 1.91 meters, also cleared on her first attempt, while Sakari Famous of Bermuda took bronze with 1.89 meters.

Senyú's performance is particularly noteworthy for the height achieved, 1.93 meters, which she accomplished on her initial try. This mark approaches the historic Games record of 1.97 meters set by another Dominican, Juana Arrendel, in 2002.
