Masseur testifies to Maradona's final words in death trial

A masseur who attended to Diego Maradona in the final weeks of his life testified in the trial over the football legend's death. Nicolás Taffarel told the court that Maradona was "totally edematous" and had ceased taking diuretics. Taffarel, who visited Maradona multiple times at his Buenos Aires residence between November 11 and November 25, 2020, described the star's deteriorating condition.

On November 24, the day before Maradona died, Taffarel entered his room to try and get him out of bed. "I don't want anything, Taffita, it's done," Maradona reportedly said. When Taffarel asked for clarification, the football icon repeated, "It's done, it's done." These were the last words Maradona spoke to him, Taffarel testified.

Taffarel began working with Maradona in 2018 and detailed the treatment Maradona was undergoing at home. He stated that Maradona had not gotten out of bed for several days prior to their final conversation. The masseur's testimony provides a personal account of Maradona's state in the period leading up to his death.
