Massive fire engulfs L&R Comercial branch in Santo Domingo Este

A massive fire consumed a branch of L&R Comercial on the Las Américas highway in Santo Domingo Este, Dominican Republic, on Friday. Thick black smoke billowed from the building, visible across the city, drawing crowds of onlookers.

The extent of the damage is significant, with much of the facility engulfed by flames. The cause of the blaze remains unknown, and authorities have not yet confirmed if anyone was injured. Initial reports indicated a lack of emergency services at the scene, though their arrival was anticipated to control the fire and prevent it from spreading to adjacent businesses.

This incident marks the second fire to affect an L&R Comercial store this year. A previous blaze on February 12 completely destroyed another branch in Villa Mella. In that instance, seven fire trucks battled the flames at the three-story establishment, and several vehicles in the parking lot were also destroyed.
