Math '10-point' case: Vietnamese language teacher from Tuyên Quang High School for the Gifted surrenders

A teacher involved in a high-profile exam cheating scandal in Vietnam has surrendered to authorities. Nguyễn Thị Diệu Thuý, a Vietnamese language teacher and exam site secretary at Tuyên Quang High School for the Gifted, turned herself in to the Investigative Security Agency of the Tuyên Quang Provincial Police.

Thuý is accused of abusing her position and authority during the 2026 high school graduation exams. The investigation into the scandal, which involved the manipulation of scores, has been ongoing. The police have stated that based on collected evidence, Thuý has been formally charged with "Abusing position and power while on duty," as stipulated in Article 356 of the Penal Code.

With Thuý's indictment, the total number of people charged in connection with the exam score manipulation scandal has reached 27. Provincial authorities have pledged to thoroughly investigate and address the case, emphasizing its seriousness and the need to maintain the integrity and fairness of the national examination system. The scandal has reportedly cast a shadow over the education sector's reputation and public trust.
