Maxi Romero cautious about Colo Colo's lead, warns against complacency before Superclásico

Maxi Romero, a forward for Colo Colo, has urged his team to remain focused despite their commanding 10-point lead in the league standings. The Argentine striker cautioned that such a significant advantage could lead to complacency, emphasizing the team's goal to secure qualification for next year's Copa tournaments.

Romero also shared his thoughts on Universidad de Chile's coach, Fernando Gago, who previously managed him at Racing Club. "He called me to come to Racing and it was possible. He is an excellent person. I really enjoyed it. He is very demanding," Romero recalled. He acknowledged the recent improvement in Universidad de Chile's performance under Gago, noting that "all can see that their last five matches were good."

Addressing comparisons with his Colo Colo teammate Javier Correa, Romero described their playing styles as distinct. "We are totally different. For my taste, he is more technical, has more quality on the ball; I am more about making runs into space, looking for through balls," he explained. He also praised the club's winter signings, highlighting the experience of Vozinha and the playing ability of Iván Román.

With his loan contract set to expire in December, Romero expressed his desire to stay at Colo Colo. "Every forward wants to be at Colo Colo. Next year, if everything goes well, we can represent Colo Colo abroad. It would be wonderful. It doesn't depend on me, but I am more than happy to stay here," he stated. The highly anticipated Superclásico between Universidad de Chile and Colo Colo is scheduled for Sunday at the Estadio Nacional.
