Mayawati Says Political Parties Have Hijacked the CJP Gen-Z Movement

Mayawati has accused political parties of taking over the Cockroach Janta Party’s Gen-Z movement, saying a campaign that once focused on the concerns of young people and the unemployed had become increasingly political.

In a post on X, the Bahujan Samaj Party chief said the movement’s independent character had become clouded by doubt. She referred to the promises made to young people and students during the Jantar Mantar movement and said their “grand dreams” had become entangled in party politics.

Mayawati said the BSP remained concerned about the essential demands of Gen-Z and Gen-Alpha. She instructed all state units to meet relevant officials in their regions and work actively to resolve those problems through peaceful means. Under the party’s discipline, she said, BSP members should not take part in sit-ins, protests or movements. Instead, they should preserve their energy and resources for elections.

She said forming a BSP government would offer a permanent solution to the problems of young people and wider society, invoking the principle of “sarvajan hitaya va sarvajan sukhaya” and the legacy of Bhimrao Ambedkar. Mayawati also criticized the handling of the Jantar Mantar protest, saying timely police action might have prevented the alleged assault on Sanjay Azad. She demanded the strictest legal action against those accused.

According to the report, Swatantra Bhardwaj, 21, and others allegedly attacked Azad, 38, who had accompanied his 14-year-old daughter to the June 23 protest. Azad, who is Dalit, suffered serious head injuries. Police registered a case that day under provisions concerning simple hurt and wrongful restraint, and Bhardwaj has been arrested.
