Diego Martin Mayor Akeliah Glasgow-Warner took to social media, donning a "leopard tiger skirt" in a viral video, to publicly implore Works Minister Jearlean John to urgently address the dire state of roads and potholes in the borough.

Glasgow-Warner highlighted that the Diego Martin Borough Corporation (DMBC) cannot continue to bear responsibility for issues neglected by the Ministry of Works. She explained that the allocated $50,000 per councillor is insufficient for such extensive repairs, even if the DMBC wished to assist. "We need you all to do your part. I am pleading with Ministry of Works, come out and do what you all are supposed to do please," she stated, walking on the damaged roadway.

In response, Minister John, through the Ministry of Works, stated that repair works were scheduled to begin on August 5. She criticized the mayor's "baseless aspersions," attributing the road issues on Diego Martin and St Lucien Roads to long-neglected underground leaks from aged infrastructure. John asserted that her government is actively addressing these problems, unlike previous administrations that "sat back and did nothing."
