McIlroy headlines summer of golf with DeChambeau targeted

A packed 19-event summer of golf is set to begin, boasting a record partnership for the Australasian Tour and offering significant opportunities, including major championship and European Tour spots. The schedule highlights the return of Grand Slam winner Rory McIlroy to Melbourne and the first Australian PGA Championship held in Sydney this century.

Organizers are actively targeting notable players, with big-hitting fan favorite Bryson DeChambeau being pursued for the PGA Championship. McIlroy is confirmed to play at iconic Kingston Heath from December 3–6, following his successful defense of the US Masters title. The PGA Championship, last held in Sydney in 1998, could feature DeChambeau, adding to the event's appeal.

The new season kicks off with the PNG Open at Royal Port Moresby Golf Club from August 27–30. The tour will then traverse all mainland Australian states and both of New Zealand's islands. The centenary Queensland PGA Championship is scheduled for November 19–22 in Brisbane, preceding the Australian PGA Championship.

Co-sanctioned by the European Tour, the Australian PGA Championship also serves as the start of the Race to Dubai. The PGA Tour of Australasia will introduce two new venues: Secret Harbour Golf Links near Perth for the WA Open and Peninsula Kingswood Country Golf Club as the new home for Players Series Victoria. The New Zealand swing in February has been revised, with the New Zealand Open now concluding the series.
