Media critic Lee Seung-won appointed as Presidential Office's Senior Secretary for Overseas Public Relations

Lee Seung-won, a media critic and former journalist, has been appointed as the new Senior Secretary for Overseas Public Relations at South Korea's Presidential Office. Lee, who previously worked as a reporter for eDaily and Naeil Shinmun before becoming a media critic in 2013, will assume his new role starting July 31.

Lee Seung-won's appointment comes after the resignation of the previous secretary, Choi Sung-ah, who stepped down due to personal reasons. Lee is known for his extensive experience in media and commentary, having hosted various radio and broadcast programs.

In another personnel change, Kim Rak-jung, a senior administrative officer in the National Affairs Secretariat, has been appointed as the new Secretary for National Affairs. Kim, who has a background in regional media and joined the presidential office when Lee Jae-myung was the mayor of Seongnam, will also begin his duties on July 31.

The Presidential Office reportedly conducted a significant reshuffle of administrative officers on July 24, promoting around 60 individuals.
