Medvedev attacks von der Leyen over Constanța drone blast, hints at EU HQ explosion

Former Russian President Dmitri Medvedev has sharply criticized European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, linking a recent drone explosion in Romania's Constanța port to the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. Medvedev sarcastically suggested that von der Leyen, whom he called a "scummy quack," would attribute any future explosion at EU headquarters in Brussels to Russian aggression, even if caused by Ukrainian forces.

Medvedev's comments on the X platform followed Russia's official response to the incident. The Russian Embassy in Bucharest declared that the drone which exploded was Ukrainian and rejected any responsibility for the event. Russian diplomats accused Romania's Ministry of National Defense of intentionally providing "incomplete information" and asserted that any attempt to associate Russia with the port explosion was "baseless."

Von der Leyen had stated that the Constanța incident was "a direct consequence of Russia's war." Medvedev's provocative remarks, particularly his reference to a potential future explosion at EU headquarters, have ignited further controversy amid the heightened tensions between Russia and the West over the war in Ukraine.
