Mega-operation in Puno Bus Terminal: Immigration and PNP detain undocumented foreigners, expel 23

Peruvian immigration authorities, in collaboration with specialized units of the National Police, carried out a significant operation at the Puno Bus Terminal, targeting undocumented foreign nationals. The joint effort resulted in the detention of 26 individuals for immigration status verification.

Following thorough checks of documentation and entry records, authorities identified 23 individuals who had failed to comply with the necessary immigration controls for entering Peru. These individuals, comprising 21 Venezuelan citizens, one Ecuadorian, and one Dominican, were subsequently ordered for expulsion from the country. The operation, which involved departments focused on human trafficking and illegal migrant smuggling, lasted approximately two hours.

According to official reports, the majority of those checked, approximately 88%, presented irregularities. The intervention aimed to ensure compliance with national immigration laws and regulations. Immigration authorities stated that such verification and enforcement operations will continue to be conducted to monitor adherence to migratory norms within the country.
