Meknes Gendarmerie launches anti-drug campaign, seizes hashish

Meknes security forces have conducted a significant anti-drug operation, arresting four individuals and seizing a substantial quantity of narcotics. The operation, carried out by the judicial brigade of the Royal Gendarmerie in Meknes, targeted drug trafficking in several rural areas following an increase in public complaints.

During separate operations on Saturday and Sunday in the Sidi Slimane Moul Kifane and Dkhissa communes, officers apprehended four suspects. They were caught in possession of approximately 20 kilograms of hashish and an amount of cannabis. Bladed weapons were also confiscated. These actions were taken under the supervision of the regional and provincial commanders of the Royal Gendarmerie in Meknes.

The security forces described the operations as part of a proactive plan to disrupt drug trafficking networks and mitigate their negative impact, particularly on the youth. The increased complaints about suspicious activities and attempts to distribute illicit substances in residential areas prompted the intensified crackdown. The arrested individuals are currently in police custody pending further investigation, as authorities seek to identify and apprehend any other potential accomplices.
