Meteorology Forecasts Monday with Minimums Down to -4°C in Center and South

Chile's Meteorological Directorate (DMC) has issued an alert for normal to moderate frost expected across six regions. The frost is predicted to occur during the early morning hours of Monday due to a cold air mass associated with high pressure.

Low temperatures are anticipated primarily in central and south-central Chile, with some localities potentially experiencing lows of -4°C. The affected regions include Valparaíso, Metropolitana, O'Higgins, Maule, Ñuble, and Biobío. In Valparaíso, the frost will impact coastal, pre-Andean, and foothill valley areas. For the other five regions, the coastal mountain range and valley sectors will be affected.

The DMC stated the frost event will begin Monday morning and last until later that day. Forecasted minimum temperatures range from -4°C to -2°C across all affected zones, including coastal mountains, valleys, and pre-Andean sectors.

Authorities are urging the public to take preventive measures against the cold. Special attention should be given to protecting the elderly, children, individuals with chronic illnesses, and animals. Drivers are also advised to exercise extreme caution during the early morning hours due to the potential for frost forming on roads.
