Metepec mayor charged with abuse of authority, vows to continue in office

Fernando "N", the mayor of Metepec, faces formal charges for his alleged involvement in abuse of authority, following a judge's decision in Almoloya de Juárez. The judicial process has entered a complementary investigation phase, with a two-month deadline for the defense to introduce new evidence.

Despite the charges, the mayor will continue to serve his term. He is permitted to remain free but must comply with specific precautionary measures. These include regular appearances before the competent authority and a restriction preventing him from entering the La Asunción sports club, a location linked to the incident that led to the charges.

Following the hearing, Fernando "N" addressed his constituents via social media. He stated his respect for the institutions and the rule of law, acknowledging the court's decision. He affirmed his intention to exercise his right to defense, expressing confidence that the facts will be clarified through legal channels. The mayor emphasized that this process does not alter his commitment to the residents of Metepec, vowing to continue his work with the same dedication.

Like any citizen, I will fully exercise my right to defense and I am convinced that it will be within the legal instances where the facts will be clarified and this matter will be resolved according to law. This process does not modify my responsibility or my commitment to the inhabitants of Metepec. I will continue performing the duties of Municipal President with the same dedication, closeness, and responsibility with which I have worked since the first day of this administration.
