MetLife Stadium to host 2026 World Cup final

MetLife Stadium, located in East Rutherford, New Jersey, has been selected to host the final match of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. This venue will be the stage where the champion of the 23rd edition of the tournament is crowned.

Opened in 2010, the stadium boasts a seating capacity of 82,500 spectators. It currently serves as the home ground for two National Football League (NFL) teams: the New York Jets and the New York Giants. The venue is no stranger to high-profile soccer events, having previously hosted the final of the 2016 Copa América Centenario, where Chile defeated Argentina, and the 2025 Club World Cup, won by Chelsea.

Beyond the final, MetLife Stadium is scheduled to host seven other matches during the 2026 World Cup. These include five group stage games, one Round of 32 match, and one Round of 16 game. The expansion of the World Cup to 48 teams means the tournament will feature 104 matches in total, a significant increase from previous editions.
