Mexican Deputies Donate Medicines to Cuba Amid U.S. Sanctions

A group of Mexican federal deputies has provided a significant donation of medicines to Cuba, aimed at alleviating shortages at a key medical facility.

The Cuban Embassy in Mexico announced that a delegation from the Parliamentary Friendship Group with Cuba, part of the Chamber of Deputies, delivered the medical supplies to the National Institute of Oncology and Radiobiology in Havana. During the exchange, Mexican deputies received information about the institute's efforts to combat the limitations imposed by the United States' "economic war" against Cuba.

Luis Martín Rodríguez, director of the institute, along with other officials, expressed gratitude to the Parliamentary Friendship Group for the donation. The Cuban Embassy emphasized that this act of solidarity is part of a broader pattern of support from the group, which was established in February 2026. Since its inception, the group has promoted declarations and sent donations to the Cuban people, underscoring the strong bond between Mexico and Cuba.

The donation arrives at a critical time for Cuba's healthcare system, which has long contended with the effects of the U.S. embargo. The National Institute of Oncology and Radiobiology, a vital center for cancer treatment, relies on such external support to maintain its services and provide essential care to patients facing severe illnesses.
