Mexican wildcard Rodrigo Pacheco to compete in Abierto de Los Cabos main draw

Mexican tennis player Rodrigo Pacheco is set to make his debut in the main draw of the ATP 250 Abierto de Los Cabos, marking a significant opportunity in his burgeoning career. Pacheco, a wildcard entrant, will open his singles campaign against Japan's Sho Shimabukuro. The tournament, celebrating its tenth anniversary, is a key event on the ATP circuit, featuring prominent players like Denis Shapovalov and Jiří Lehečka.

Adding to his participation, Pacheco will also compete in the doubles category alongside Santiago González, a seasoned Olympian. This partnership marks the first time the young Mexican talent and the experienced González will team up, combining youth and experience on the court. The tournament's director, José Antonio Fernández, highlighted the significance of the Abierto de Los Cabos in fostering the growth of Mexican tennis talent, calling it an "incredible window" for local players.

Fernández reflected on the tournament's decade-long journey, noting substantial growth across all areas, particularly for the players. He described the current year's draw as "wonderful" and fitting for the 10th-anniversary celebration. Other Mexican players, including Alan Magadán, Luis Carlos Álvarez, Alex Hernández, and Alan Rubio-Fierros, also participated in the qualifying rounds. Defending champion Denis Shapovalov will face Rinky Hijikata, while Francisco Cerúndolo and Jiří Lehečka received byes into the next round.
