Mexico City deploys over 15,000 police for Mexico vs. Ecuador match

Mexico City's Citizen Security Secretariat (SSC) is mobilizing a substantial force of over 15,000 police officers to ensure safety during the Mexico vs. Ecuador soccer match on Tuesday, June 30. The extensive security operation will encompass multiple venues across the capital where fans are expected to gather.

According to SSC Secretary Pablo Vázquez Camacho, the primary focus will be the area surrounding the Estadio Ciudad de México, where 7,500 officers will be deployed. Additional security will be present at the Fan Fest in the Zócalo capitalino, with 3,300 officers assigned to the location. A significant contingent of 4,200 officers will patrol the Paseo de la Reforma corridor, where large screens will be set up for public viewing.

The security plan also extends to 18 "futbolero" festivals hosted in various boroughs (alcaldías) of Mexico City, with 291 officers dedicated to these events. This comprehensive deployment aims to guarantee the safety of all fans before, during, and after the match, regardless of their chosen viewing location.
