Mexico City Fan Fest Boos England, Cheers Haaland in World Cup Match

Fans attending the FIFA Fan Fest in Mexico City's Zócalo booed the English team during their match against Norway, with chants of "vamos Haaland" (Go Haaland) echoing through the crowd. Despite Norway's eventual defeat, the majority of attendees supported the Norwegian side throughout the more than 120 minutes of play.

The Zócalo was nearly full, with some attendees seeking refuge from intermittent rain in the activation zones. Long queues formed before the security checks, and staff reminded the crowd to open bags and not bring in food or drinks to speed up the process. Inside, fans found spots to watch the match on screens, with some moving to the covered areas when the rain intensified.

As the match progressed into extra time and England took the lead, a significant number of attendees began to leave. One young fan expressed disappointment, lamenting, "Haaland is going to lose, it can't be. First Mexico and now my Haaland." However, England fans were also present, making their presence known during the broadcast.

When the final whistle blew, the stadium erupted in a mix of boos and applause. As fans exited, most headed towards Avenida 20 de Noviembre and Pino Suárez, while another group left via 16 de Septiembre street. The rain returned as the match concluded.
