Mexico City: Marches and gatherings planned for Friday, August 7

Mexico City anticipates a series of marches and gatherings on Friday, August 7, as announced by the Secretariat of Citizen Security. These events highlight various social and political concerns across the country.

A march organized by searchers is scheduled for 6:40 PM, starting from the Angel of Independence and heading to Glorieta del Ahuehuete. Their aim is to draw attention to the national crisis of disappearances and demand effective government actions, budgetary resources for search commissions, and an end to institutional revictimization.

Separately, the National Monte de Piedad Union will demonstrate at 9:30 AM at the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation. They are protesting the continuation of a strike initiated on October 10, 2025, arguing that it has hindered the resolution of the labor conflict.

At 11:00 AM, representatives of the "Libertad para Morir" initiative will gather at the National Center for the Arts to collect signatures for the "Assisted Dying Law in Mexico City." This citizen proposal seeks to allow patients with advanced or incurable diseases to receive assistance for a dignified death.

Further events include the Colectivo Aztlán holding a forum at the Chamber of Deputies at 11:30 AM to discuss "Sovereignty in Scenarios of Intervention," focusing on peace and dignity. The group "Lleca Escuchando la Calle" will be at the National Human Rights Commission at 12:00 PM, demanding the approval of a "Comprehensive Trans Law" to guarantee rights in health, housing, education, and employment, among others. The group "Hoy Todos Somos Miguel" will host a "Karaoke Against Oblivion" event in Santa María la Ribera to demand justice for a photojournalist who died in an accident at Parque Bicentenario during the "Axe Ceremonia" concert on April 5, 2025. Additionally, a group will gather at the Colombian Consulate at 6:00 PM for an event supporting peace and social justice in Colombia, and to protest alleged irregularities in the electoral process and risks to human rights.
