Mexico City-Querétaro Train to Arrive by Mid-2027, Government Projects

The Mexican government, through the Regulatory Agency for Railway Transport (ARTF), has provided a significant update on the ambitious high-speed rail projects connecting key cities. The anticipated arrival of the first trains for the Mexico City-Querétaro and Saltillo-Nuevo Laredo routes by mid-2027 signals tangible progress in modernizing the nation's transportation infrastructure. The first train for the Mexico City - Querétaro route will arrive at the end of the first half of 2027, and for the Saltillo - Nuevo Laredo section, in the second half of 2027.

ARTF head Andrés Lajous Loaeza detailed the procurement of 15 electric trains for the AlFA a Pachuca service and 47 diesel-electric trains for the northern phase one routes. The ongoing validation of executive projects and the imminent start of manufacturing for these trains underscore the government's commitment to these large-scale endeavors. The sheer scale of the planned railway network, with a projected 2,377 kilometers of new track to be laid during the current administration, speaks to a vision of a more integrated and efficient Mexico.

We are already in the final validation of the executive project for the trains, the supply of critical initial consumables, and we will begin manufacturing in June, meaning in a couple of weeks we will be starting the manufacturing of the 47 diesel-electric trains.
