Mexico is ready to host any FIFA event, says former federation president

Mexico has significantly enhanced its standing in international football by successfully hosting 13 matches during the 2026 World Cup. Justino Compeán, the former president of the Mexican Football Federation and an advisor for the Estadio Azteca concerning the World Cup, expressed confidence in Mexico's readiness. "Mexico, and not just Mexico City but the other two stadiums as well, presented a great image. The sellouts, the way the fans behaved, the Fan Fests in all the cities, and all the people who traveled to them. We set the bar very high, but we are ready for any event FIFA might consider us for," he stated.

Compeán also highlighted the strong relationship between Mexican football authorities and FIFA President Gianni Infantino. This close connection is seen as a crucial factor in Mexico's ability to attract future international events. He noted the effective collaboration with Mikel Arriola, Ivar Sisniega, and Íñigo Riestra, who maintain close ties with both CONCACAF and FIFA, ensuring a continued pipeline of events for the country.
