Guillermo Ochoa, the legendary Mexican goalkeeper who played in an unprecedented six World Cups, has officially announced his retirement from professional football. The announcement came on July 22, as Ochoa shared his decision via his social media channels.

"Now I take off my gloves," Ochoa wrote, expressing gratitude for his journey. "I never imagined where my dreams could take me. Today, with pride, I say 'thank you.' To everyone who accompanied me on my journey, thank you. With the love of millions, I gave everything for Mexico."

Ochoa's career is marked by his remarkable feat of participating in six consecutive World Cups, beginning with the 2006 tournament in Germany and extending to the 2026 North American edition. He is a celebrated figure in Mexican football, having earned 153 caps for the national team.

In the most recent World Cup, hosted in North America, Ochoa served as a backup goalkeeper. He made an appearance in the final minutes of Mexico's group stage match against Czechia, receiving a celebratory water dousing from his teammates after the game, marking his official final match. Ochoa began his professional career in 2004 with Club América before moving to French club AC Ajaccio.
