The recent World Cup match between Mexico and South Korea, held on June 18, has shattered viewership records in Mexico, drawing nearly 30 million people across TelevisaUnivision's platforms. This massive audience solidifies the game's status as the most-watched in the country's history, according to data from the network's press area.

TelevisaUnivision's traditional broadcast channels, including Cinco, Nueve, and TUDN, captured the attention of 26.4 million viewers. Simultaneously, the sports giant's streaming service, ViX, contributed an additional 3.5 million users to the total viewership. This combined audience of 48.1 million on television alone, as analyzed by Javier Tejado Dondé of EL UNIVERSAL, significantly surpasses the previous record.

The prior record was held by the Mexico-Argentina match during the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, which garnered 40.5 million viewers. The latest match, which Mexico won 1-0, has not only broken that record but also set a new benchmark for sports broadcasting in the country. The victory itself also sparked celebrations, with fans filling the Ángel de la Independencia monument in Mexico City.
