Miaoli County Opens First Competition-Grade Football Field

Miaoli County has inaugurated its first competition-standard football field at the branch campus of Zhunan Shanjia Elementary School. This new facility is poised to become a significant venue for football in the region, catering to both organized matches and community recreational play.

The project, a collaborative effort involving central government subsidies totaling 18.24 million NT dollars and contributions from manufacturers in the Hsinchu Science Park and Zhunan Science Park, represents a substantial investment in local sports infrastructure. The field boasts a national standard artificial turf surface, complete with a 9-meter high surrounding net, an automatic sprinkler system, goalposts, and movable spectator stands.

School principal Lin Hsin-chuan highlighted that the field meets national competition standards and will initially be open for public use. Discussions are underway with relevant associations for the field's adoption and management to ensure its proper maintenance. The school is also considering establishing its own football team to maximize the facility's utilization.

Given the population growth in the Zhunan and Toufen areas, driven by the presence of science parks, the demand for recreational and sports facilities for children has increased. This new football field is expected to serve as a foundation for developing football in Miaoli County, providing a much-needed space for residents to play and for hosting local tournaments.
