The film chronicling the life of the "King of Pop," Michael Jackson, has achieved a new box office milestone. "Michael Jackson" has officially become the highest-grossing live-action biographical film globally, with a cumulative box office of $977 million.

This achievement surpasses Christopher Nolan's "Oppenheimer," which previously held the record for live-action biopics with $975 million. The Michael Jackson biopic had already out-grossed "Bohemian Rhapsody" in 2018, which had a worldwide total of $911 million. The film also solidifies its position as the highest-grossing musical biopic in film history.

Directed by Antoine Fuqua and starring Michael Jackson's nephew, Jaafar Jackson, in his first major film role, the movie traces the legendary singer's rise from his early days with the Jackson 5 to his status as a global icon. Since its release in April, the film has garnered $370 million in North America and $607 million from international markets, contributing to its impressive global total. The film's box office success continues as it plays in theaters worldwide, with expectations of potentially breaking the $1 billion mark.
