Michigan shooting leaves five dead; gunman believed to have died by suicide

A violent incident in rural Michigan has left five people dead, with authorities believing the suspected gunman, 39-year-old Chad Hickman, died by suicide. The shootings unfolded across two homes and a wooded area in Missaukee city. Police were initially called to a residence on South LaChance Road in Missaukee County following a report of shots fired. There, they discovered three deceased individuals and one person who was critically injured. The injured victim was transported to a local hospital. While officers were searching for Hickman, who had fled the scene before their arrival, a fourth victim was found dead at another residence. Hickman's vehicle was later discovered in a wooded area, leading investigators to his body and that of another deceased individual. "This is not only difficult for our investigators and our agents, but it is also very hard on this community that is very quiet. This kind of loss is tragic," stated Lt. Ashley Miller, public information officer for the Michigan State Police, in comments to Fox News. She added that an exhaustive investigation is underway, and the community will be kept informed of developments. Police have not yet released the names or ages of the victims, pending notification of their families.
