Milan bids farewell to Don Antonio Mazzi, founder of Exodus community

Milan bid farewell to Don Antonio Mazzi, the revered founder of the Exodus community, who passed away at the age of 96. A large crowd gathered at the Basilica of Sant'Ambrogio for his funeral, filling the church with friends, collaborators, and individuals who found support through Exodus.

He was connected to the last ones, to those who had problems. He had the confidence to help and he always tried.

City officials, including Mayor Giuseppe Sala and Prefect Claudio Sgaraglia, joined mourners. Urbano Cairo, president of RCS MediaGroup, remembered Mazzi as someone "always trying to help" those facing difficulties, calling him an "extraordinary person."

He was an extraordinary person, with whom I had a beautiful relationship. I am very sorry that he has passed away.

Mayor Sala expressed his deep respect for Mazzi, suggesting his legacy be honored by supporting Exodus's ongoing mission. He described the founder as a "true educator" who was direct, imaginative, and deeply cared for the young people in his care. Sala also noted the significant milestone of Exodus's 40 years of service.

The president of Inter Milan highlighted Mazzi's embodiment of Christian forgiveness and his success in guiding those who had fallen. Lele Mora, a prominent figure, shared a personal connection, calling Don Mazzi a "second father."
