Milei and Mahiques consider candidates for Comodoro Py judicial vacancies

President Javier Milei and Minister of Justice Juan Bautista Mahiques are evaluating a pool of candidates to fill vacant positions in the Comodoro Py Oral Courts. The selection process involves choosing six nominees from 18 individuals put forward by the Council of the Magistracy in mid-April.

The prospective candidates represent a mix of national and provincial magistrates, specialized prosecutors, and secretaries working within the judicial system. A significant portion, about one-third, comes directly from the Comodoro Py courts. Among them is Santiago Schiopetto, secretary to prosecutor Ramiro González, who played a role in the case against Alberto Fernández concerning gender violence allegations.

Other notable candidates include Nicolás Pacilio and Ivana Quinteros, secretaries from the Federal Chamber's Sala II and Sala I, respectively. Both had been previously nominated for judicial posts by the Mauricio Macri administration but had their nominations withdrawn during Alberto Fernández's presidency. Ignacio Labadens, a secretary at the Oral Court 1 for over 15 years, is also on the list; this court previously convicted former public works secretary José López.

Further candidates include Diego Perone and Albertina Carón, secretaries under Judge Daniel Rafecas at Federal Court No. 3, a court involved in investigations related to the Pilar estate attributed to AFA officials. From the Public Prosecutor's Office come Agustina Inés Rodríguez, coordinator of the Specialized Unit for Violence Against Women (UFEM) and the top-ranked candidate, and Vanesa Silvana Alfaro, who works in Procelac, a unit focused on money laundering investigations.
