Milei unleashes eight-hour tirade against journalism on social media

Argentine President Javier Milei dedicated eight hours of his social media activity to directly attacking the press, employing highly offensive language against journalists and media organizations. This recent barrage follows previous clashes concerning reports about his health.

Milei's sustained online offensive began around 10:30 AM on Tuesday. He amplified a tweet from Economy Minister Luis Caputo, who criticized a report by the newspaper LA NACION about Milei's attacks on the press. Caputo argued that media outlets publish information "without basis" and should face consequences. Milei echoed these sentiments, labeling journalists as "lying human shit" and "human shit" in his posts.

Further escalating his rhetoric, Milei responded to a user's comment about "pauta" (government advertising funds) by posting "Masterclass," a term he uses to praise content aligned with his views. He also directed insults like "lying human shit" and "scum" at media outlets, including Clarín, for reporting on a supposed argument he had with liberal author Federico Domínguez.

In response to posts discussing the public's level of indebtedness, Milei tweeted, "The human shit who disguise themselves as journalists will apologize for having lied and operated so much with the issue of defaults... Let's see if they are made of clay or shit... Principle of Revelation, charge... CIAO!" He also criticized a Clarín headline about tax reduction, calling journalists who view it negatively "very shit."

The president's aggressive stance against the media has been a recurring theme. He explicitly supported Caputo's proposal to sanction journalists who publish information deemed unsubstantiated, indicating a clear intent to penalize critical reporting.
