Military arrives at San Pablo bridge, demands end to blockade

Military forces arrived at a blockade on the Santa Cruz-Beni highway near the San Pablo bridge, confronting protesters and demanding the immediate lifting of the obstruction. The demonstration, initiated by producers from Beni's Marbán province, centers on their demand for the repeal of Supreme Decree 5676, which raised the price of diesel fuel for large consumers.

During a dialogue with the mobilized sectors, a military official reminded the demonstrators that a state of exception remains in effect, as stipulated by Decree 5636. The officer warned that continuing the protest constitutes a criminal offense, emphasizing that while the right to protest is recognized, it cannot be exercised in a manner that impedes essential freedoms.

The military representative highlighted that the blockade violates fundamental rights, including the right to life and health, the defense of economic development, freedom of transit, and public and food security. The official acknowledged the protesters' right to peaceful demonstration but pointed out that their current actions disrupt circulation and affect the public's right to access food.
