Military Broadcaster's Property to Be Auctioned Over Unpaid Salaries

Employees of the military broadcaster Nkululeko Rusununguko TV (NRTV) are taking drastic action to recover unpaid salaries, with movable property set to go under the hammer.

The auction follows a High Court order for seizure after the company failed to settle a debt exceeding US$200,000. This action was initiated after 70 employees approached the Labour Court, where an arbitrator found NRTV in default of paying wages. The company was ordered to pay US$278,479.88, but failed to comply.

NRTV, owned by Nkululeko Rusununguko Holdings with significant interests from the Zimbabwe National Army, has been accused of mismanagement. Reports indicate that millions of dollars were squandered on inflated television content. While most workers have left, they continue to pursue their owed payments.

The auction, managed by KM Auctions (Pvt) Ltd, includes motor vehicles valued at US$76,000, along with office property such as refrigerators, printers, and televisions. This move highlights the ongoing financial struggles and alleged mismanagement plaguing the military broadcaster.
