Military 'shoulder to shoulder' with northern leaders, IDF Chief Zamir says at joint assessment

IDF Chief of the General Staff Lt.-Gen. Eyal Zamir met with northern Israeli leaders on Thursday for a joint assessment of the security situation, emphasizing the military's unwavering support for the region's communities. Zamir pledged that the IDF stands "shoulder to shoulder" with residents, aiming to protect them and inflict greater damage on Hezbollah to establish a new security reality along the border.

We have a shared goal: protecting the residents of the north and restoring lasting peace and security. We are working together, shoulder to shoulder, toward that goal.

Zamir detailed the IDF's "multi-front state of readiness," noting that the majority of its troops and capabilities are concentrated on the northern front. He cited recent operations in the Beaufort Ridge area, where significant Hezbollah infrastructure was dismantled. The Chief of Staff also discussed Operation Roaring Lion, asserting that Israeli military actions have weakened Iran and its proxies, particularly Hezbollah, to an "unprecedented degree."

The majority of the IDF’s troops and capabilities are deployed in the northern arena. Just this week, IDF troops operated in the Beaufort Ridge area, dismantling significant and critical Hezbollah terrorist infrastructure that had been built over many years.

"We acted swiftly and decisively to eliminate the threat of infiltration raids and anti-tank attacks against the [northern] communities," Zamir stated, outlining the IDF's proactive policy of not engaging in containment but rather taking initiative against emerging threats. He concluded by commending the soldiers and commanders for their determination and perseverance during the prolonged operation, assuring them that their security and the restoration of lasting peace are the IDF's primary mission.
