Millions of Turkish students begin summer break; schools to host workshops

Around 20 million students across Turkey are heading into their summer break today, marking the end of the academic year. After receiving their report cards, students will enjoy approximately three months of vacation before schools reopen on September 14.

Continuing a tradition from previous years, school facilities will remain active over the summer, hosting vocational workshops. These activities will cover diverse fields such as woodworking, culinary arts, handicrafts, robotics, and basic technology applications, aiming to provide students with productive ways to spend their time.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of National Education is already planning for the upcoming academic year. A comprehensive circular is expected to be sent to provinces, emphasizing crucial areas like safety at school entrances and exits, bus inspections, canteen controls, security measures around school premises, and overall student protection.

Additionally, the ministry is considering expanding orientation programs for students starting preschool, first grade, and ninth grade. Discussions are underway to involve parents more actively in this adaptation process, although the mandatory nature of parental participation is yet to be finalized. A decision on this matter is anticipated during the summer months.
