A planned performance by the renowned Ming Hwa Yuan Tian Zi Troupe at the "Quell the Beauty Art Festival" in Tainan has been abruptly canceled, leaving organizers and the public seeking clarity. The festival, initiated by netizens to support Chen Hsing-han, had invited four major art troupes, with the Tian Zi Troupe being the sole participant from Pingtung. Initially, the troupe issued a statement expressing appreciation for the invitation and emphasizing the artistic value of traditional opera over topical promotion. This statement, coupled with a subsequent response from the main Ming Hwa Yuan company denying any invitation, caused confusion among netizens. The Tian Zi Troupe later issued a second statement clarifying that while they did receive an invitation, their annual schedule was already finalized, making it impossible to arrange a performance.
