Minibus carrying farm workers overturns into canal, injuring 19

A minibus carrying agricultural workers overturned into an irrigation canal in Koruklu, in Şanlıurfa province, injuring 19 people, including women and children.

The crash occurred on the Şanlıurfa-Akçakale road after the driver lost control of the vehicle. The driver’s name was not immediately known.

Emergency medical, fire and gendarmerie teams were sent to the scene after local residents reported the accident. Responders removed the injured passengers from the minibus and took them by ambulance to hospitals in Akçakale, Harran and central Şanlıurfa.

The Akçakale-bound side of the road was closed for a time, creating long lines of vehicles. Gendarmerie officers secured the area to prevent a second accident. A tow truck and crane later removed the minibus and took it to a parking facility. Authorities opened an investigation.
