Minister briefed about challenges facing agricultural projects in Dhofar

Oman's Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources, Dr. Saud bin Hamoud Al Habsi, toured farms in the Al Najd area of Dhofar Governorate to directly observe the challenges confronting the agricultural sector. The visit was designed to identify effective solutions and provide support to agricultural workers, fostering the development of sustainable farming practices.

During the tour, the minister received briefings on current investment projects, which are being implemented in collaboration with the private sector. These initiatives focus on enhancing food security, encouraging investments, conserving natural resources, and increasing the agricultural sector's added value.

A key focus of the visit was the Wadi Ghazal initiative, a project for harvesting frankincense trees. This initiative, a partnership with Amouage company and funded by the Agricultural and Fisheries Development Fund, aims to promote sustainable harvesting methods, protect frankincense trees, and create local employment opportunities. The minister also reviewed progress at the Integrated Complex in Al Najd, highlighting efforts to bolster productive projects within the Dhofar Governorate.
