Minister Buys Lika Products at Zagreb Market for Slovenian Counterpart

Croatian Minister of Agriculture David Vlajčić made a special visit to Zagreb's Dolac market, not for personal shopping, but to carefully select authentic Lika region products for a gift to his Slovenian counterpart. His mission was to procure Lika potatoes and various cheeses, aiming to showcase the quality of Croatian agricultural produce during an upcoming official trip to Slovenia.

At the bustling market, Vlajčić engaged with vendors, inquiring about the origin of the products. One seller noted a recent trend of customers asking about their proximity to Gospić, the main city in the Lika region, often with a smile. Vlajčić expressed his delight in finding a variety of Lika products, particularly emphasizing his support for small dairy producers. "I am very glad that you have all of their products. We especially support small dairies; they do a great job," he stated.

The minister's choice of Lika products was a deliberate act of promotion. He explained that while illegal waste in Gospić is a serious issue requiring remediation, it should not overshadow the entire Lika region, which produces some of Croatia's finest agricultural goods. "Lika producers, I personally support and promote them whenever and however I can. Especially in this situation," Vlajčić concluded, underscoring his commitment to championing these regional specialties.
