Ministry Begins Generating New Energy Vouchers After Reviewing Energy Aid

The Ministry of Economy has announced the completion of its review process for targeted energy assistance, bringing clarity and continuity for households relying on this support. This review, conducted in accordance with established rules and legislation, ensures that those eligible will continue to receive aid without interruption. The ministry's proactive approach in cross-checking data and coordinating with the Slovak Post is crucial for the timely distribution of new energy vouchers.

Key to this announcement is the confirmation that the core parameters of the energy aid – including eligibility criteria, assessment methods, and the mechanism of delivery – remain consistent with existing laws and government decrees. This stability is vital for households navigating economic uncertainties. The ministry has also identified additional households that have newly qualified for assistance, demonstrating an ongoing commitment to supporting vulnerable populations.

The process of continuous reassessment of the entitlement to targeted energy aid took place in accordance with the set rules and valid legislation. Aid is provided continuously to households whose entitlement to energy aid continues, without any changes. Within the reassessment, households that have newly become entitled to targeted energy aid have also been identified.

Households can verify their eligibility and learn more about the energy aid program through the official website, www.energopomoc.sk. The ministry has also provided updated data to electricity and gas suppliers and is processing energy vouchers for those receiving heat and hot water through centralized systems. The current distribution covers a five-month period (April-August 2026), explaining the higher nominal value of these vouchers compared to the initial three-month distribution (January-March 2026).

For households that did not receive vouchers in the first round due to incomplete or incorrect data, or those whose vouchers were not paid within the stipulated period, provisions are in place for re-issuance. These individuals can apply for re-issuance at client service points at district offices. The ministry's efforts underscore a commitment to ensuring that all eligible citizens receive the energy support they are entitled to, reinforcing the government's role in mitigating the impact of energy costs on Slovak households.

The currently distributed energy vouchers cover the period from April to August 2026, i.e. five months. Their nominal value will therefore naturally be higher than in the first round of distribution, which covered the period January to March 2026. However, this is not an increase in targeted energy aid, but a consideration of the longer period for which the aid is provided.
