The previous day, Kim had described his party's expansion strategy as difficult to reconcile with the approach advocated by former leader Jeong Cheong-rae, who then publicly criticized Kim's remarks as "mic dictatorship." Supreme Council member Choi Min-hee, who is considered aligned with Jeong's faction, voiced agreement with the need for expanding the party's reach towards the center and strengthening its core.
