Miracle rescue: Dog Laila found alive after 29 days buried in Venezuela earthquake debris

Miracles still happen. Nearly a month after devastating earthquakes struck Venezuela, a small poodle named Laila was rescued alive, offering a glimmer of hope amidst widespread destruction. The emotional rescue, captured on video, has captivated internet users.

Laila had been buried under the rubble of a collapsed structure for 29 days in La Guaira. The footage shows rescue workers gently tending to the dog, offering her water. "What a miracle, my God," a bystander exclaims. Despite her ordeal, Laila appeared conscious, though tired and dirty.

The rescue was shared by the "Topos Orientales A.C." brigade on TikTok, with many calling Laila's survival a symbol of hope. Although severely dehydrated and malnourished, she was found able to drink water on her own, a discovery that greatly encouraged the rescue team.

The earthquakes, which occurred on June 24, have claimed at least 5,398 lives and injured 16,740 people. Official figures indicate that 859 buildings were damaged, with 190 collapsing entirely. Approximately 17,907 people have been left homeless and are staying in 107 camps.
