Miramar IMAX Theater Faces Consecutive Screen Failures During "Oppenheimer" Screenings

The sole IMAX theater in Taiwan capable of showing "Oppenheimer" in its full 1.43:1 aspect ratio, the Miramar Dazhi IMAX, has encountered significant technical problems. The issues have disrupted screenings of the acclaimed film for two consecutive days, frustrating moviegoers.

On July 24, patrons reported problems with screen brightness and sound quality. The following day, July 25, the situation escalated when the screen displayed a noticeable green tint from the trailers onwards. This led to the immediate cancellation of all IMAX showtimes for "Oppenheimer" on that day.

Miramar Cinemas issued a statement acknowledging the equipment malfunction in the IMAX hall on July 25. The statement confirmed the cancellation of specific showtimes and outlined procedures for refunds for both online and in-person ticket purchases. Customers who bought tickets online via the official website or app will receive automatic refunds, while those who purchased in person can claim their refunds at the cinema counter until August 30, 2026.

The consecutive technical failures have disappointed fans eager to experience Christopher Nolan's film in the premium IMAX format. The issues, ranging from screen blackouts and "blue bars" on July 23 to brightness, sound, and color problems on subsequent days, raise concerns about the theater's equipment reliability.
