Missing 17-year-old found alive in Nayarit after six weeks

Facundo, a 17-year-old who had been missing for a month and a half, has been found alive in Nayarit. Authorities located him on Sunday, August 30, in the municipality of Acaponeta.

The teenager disappeared from the San Miguel Tateposco neighborhood of Zapopan on July 17 after leaving home without telling his family where he was going. His relatives had no further information about his whereabouts.

The Jalisco Vice Prosecutor’s Office for Missing Persons said it launched searches at different points across the state. Investigators analyzed information, reviewed surveillance recordings and interviewed relatives and people close to Facundo to trace possible routes and identify places where he might be.

Evidence gathered during the investigation, along with regular communication with the family, provided information that allowed officials to widen the search to other states. The operation involved the National Search Commission, the Immediate National Search Alert Command Center, and the prosecutors’ offices of Nayarit and Jalisco.

After Facundo was found, authorities contacted his relatives and began protocols for his return. Officials have not provided further details about how the disappearance occurred, how he reached Acaponeta, or whether the case involved forced recruitment.
