Missing 20-something man found dead in Jeju three days after disappearance

A man in his 20s, who had been reported missing in Seogwipo, Jeju, was discovered dead three days after his disappearance. The discovery was made by the Coast Guard during a search operation near the Haye Port in Seogwipo on August 29.

The missing person report was filed on August 28 by the man's family, who stated they were concerned as he was not responding to calls. The family mentioned he might have gone fishing, a popular activity in the area.

Investigations revealed that the man, identified as 'A', left his residence on the morning of August 27 with fishing gear and his car. CCTV footage confirmed his departure. His mobile phone signal was last detected near the Haye Port area later that afternoon, and his vehicle was found abandoned nearby.

Following the report, a joint search operation involving police, fire services, and military personnel was launched. The search utilized helicopters, drones, boats, and rescue dogs, focusing on the coastal areas around where his car was discovered. The deceased was identified as a junior military officer stationed in Jeju, who was reportedly on his day off when he went missing.
