Missing Chinese Student Found Dead in Gyeongsan; Man Who Reported Her Missing Arrested

A 25-year-old Chinese exchange student, identified as Ms. G, has been found deceased in Gyeongsan, South Korea, six days after she was reported missing. Police have arrested a 30-year-old man, referred to as Mr. N, on suspicion of murder. Mr. N was the individual who initially reported Ms. G's disappearance.

Ms. G, a graduate student at a university in Gyeongsan, arrived in South Korea on August 14th to receive her graduation certificate. She was last in contact with her family on the evening of August 20th, the day before she was scheduled to receive her diploma. Her family lost contact with her thereafter.

Police apprehended Mr. N on August 25th around 7:29 PM on a street in Hayang-eup, Gyeongsan. Ms. G's body was discovered in Mr. N's nearby residence. An autopsy is scheduled to determine the precise time and cause of death. Investigators are currently questioning Mr. N regarding his motive and the specifics of the crime, and are also securing evidence from his residence.

The case gained wider attention after posts believed to be from Ms. G's family appeared on Chinese social media. During the investigation, police became suspicious of Mr. N, who was initially interviewed as a witness. Following further questioning, police plan to seek an arrest warrant for Mr. N.
