Missing Former Councilwoman Found Safe in Downtown Santiago

Thae Loiza Galaz, a former councilwoman from the Graneros commune, has been located in the central area of Santiago after being missing for 12 days. The Police of Investigations (PDI) confirmed her whereabouts on Monday, bringing an end to the search that began on August 5th.

The former authority from the O'Higgins Region was found at the intersection of Huérfanos and Bandera streets in downtown Santiago. The discovery was the result of a coordinated operation involving specialized PDI units, including the Homicide Brigade of Rancagua.

Sub-prefect Juan Reyes, head of the Rancagua Homicide Brigade, stated that Galaz was found after "arduous diligence" in the central sector of Santiago. He confirmed she was in "good physical and health condition." Following her location, Galaz provided a statement to the police to clarify the circumstances surrounding her disappearance.

The case had been classified as a "presumed misfortune" before she was found. Authorities have since informed the prosecutor and Galaz's family about her safe recovery.
